Coach Ritter begins his sixth season as the Head Football Coach and Athletic Director of Russellville High School.  Last year the Golden Tigers were 7-5. The 2022 Golden Tigers were the 5A-7 Region Champs for the 3rd year in a row and made it to the 2nd Round of the AHSAA Playoffs. The 2022 Golden Tigers bolstered the #9 ranked offense in 5a scoring 38 points per game and fielded a defense that was # 10 in scoring allowing 18 points per game. In five years at the helm, the Golden Tigers have complied at 43-16 overall record with a 29-3 Region Record with 5 AHSAA Playoff appearances and back to back to back Region Championships.  Coach Ritter is the AHSAA and ALFCA District 7 Representative for football.

Coach Ritter’s career as an assistant started at Muscle Shoals High School as the Offensive Coordinator from 2008-11.  He also served as the Defensive Coordinator and Associate Head Coach at Deshler High School, a season that saw Deshler finish as the class 4A State Runner Up in 2014. 

Coach Ritter began his career as a Head Coach at Red Bay High School in 2012. In 2 years at Red Bay, they compiled a record of 16-7 with a 12-2 region record and two Region 8 Runner-up finishes.In 2014 Coach Ritter was hired at West Morgan High School. In 3 seasons the Rebels went from 0-10 to 10-2 with a 3A Region 8 Championship, the first in 15 years. In his career, Coach Ritter’s teams have advanced to the playoffs 8 out of 9 years as a head coach and 12 out of 14 years during his career.

He is a 2003 graduate of Lauderdale County High School where he lettered for 4 years in 3 sports before moving on to the University of North Alabama to play quarterback in 2003-2004.  Coach Ritter is a 2008 graduate of The University of Alabama with a degree in Social Sciences and a 2018 Graduate of West Alabama with a Masters in Instructional Leadership.

Coach Ritter is married to Lauren and they have two children, Lillian (8) and Lincoln (5). Coach Ritter and Lauren have been married for 10 years.  Lauren is the music teacher at Russellville Elementary School.

Brett Voss

Head Middle School Football Coach/RMS Athletic Director

Brett Voss enters his 1st year as the RMS Head Coach and Athletic Director after 12 years with the Golden Tigers as Quarterbacks Coach, Offensive Coordinator, and Associate Head Coach. Prior to joining RCS, Coach Voss spent 5 years at his alma mater Speake High School. In his last year at Speake, he helped the Bobcats to the 1A State Championship game as Offensive Coordinator. He holds a B.S. and Master’s degree in Special Education, and he is also certified in Physical Education. He is married to the former Olivia Cobbs of Cullman. She is employed by Champion Rehabilitation and currently serves as the Coordinator of Therapy for the Shoals region. They have an 18 month old son, Barrett.
